Bugs in the water!

Yesterday we were very lucky to have enjoyed the sunshine whilst being outside in it!

We all headed up to the Whangawehi River on bus at 11am, and walked up from the bridge to the rapids.

Once there we had a quick discussion with Shane (Our bug expert), about what sort of bugs we want to find, whether it is good or not to find bugs in our water, and what makes our water healthy.

The water was looking reasonably clean, however there weren't many bugs to be found. We all had a look at our identification sheets, and knew what we were all looking for so we began our exploration of the river.

Due to it being a very hot day it was a big relief to be able to get into the water.

We all learnt a lot about water quality and how fast flowing water is always healthier than water that isn't moving too much!
