Week 10

O man we have had so much fun already this week and it's only Tuesday!
Yesterday we spent the day (amongst other things) making Hot Cross Buns!
We were very lucky to have our local master baker Petra (Elliot's Mum), come in and help us out for the day.

Our class had the job of measuring and mixing some of the ingredients. We have some very careful measurers in class.

Once the other classes had finished mixing and kneading the dough it was left to rise.
Then it was our turn to mould our buns. Petra taught us how to do this by making our hands into a C and moving them in a circular motion whilst pressing down- this created magnificent round buns.

And guess what! They were delicious! Better than bought hot cross buns!

We had a busy day in class today thinking about all that we have learnt this term- it is a lot!

Only two more days left for the term, and we are going to have a lot of fun (As well as a lot of tidying in preparation for our School centennial). Busy Busy Busy!

Week 8 and 9

How is it just about Week 10 already?
This term has gone so fast and we have done so much.

During Week 8 we had a very special wee visitor to Room 3. Manu-James came for a day to see how Room 3 works before he starts attending full time next term. We had a lot of fun showing him Room 3 and Te Mahia school. Manu-James was able to join in with our Gingerbread men making. We have been reading the ginger bread man as a class after Waitama had it as his home learning book. We have all enjoyed using it as a class play.
After all the reading we have done of the gingerbread man we made our own and decorated them. We also had some stories and discussions around what we would do if we were the gingerbread men that everyone wanted to eat.

Week 9 has seen us doing some pretty awesome learning. We are wrapping up all of our knowledge we have learnt this term and using it to create some awesome artwork and displays so that our classroom is looking amazing for the centennial.

If you are down at school make sure you come and see all the exciting things happening in Room 3.

Hope your weekends have been safe and sunny.
Enjoy your last week for this term!

Week 7

I hope you have all had a safe and warm weekend. Hopefully Pam blows over soon and we can have our sunshine back.

What an awesome Tuesday we have had!
We all came to school in our green for St Patricks day. We all looked amazing! Some of us even bought specially made green food! Thankyou to Cherie and Nanny Vienna for the delicious biscuits, jelly and muffins we all got to share in class.

Thisafternoon we had a very special visit from Diana Queenin. Diana presented us with our Duffy books. She used to work in the New York Museum of Natural History. This is where "The night in the museum" was filmed! To get the job with the museum she had to study all the things in the museum and read up on them. If she hadn't learnt to read at Pukekohe Primary School she wouldn't have been able to get the job.
Diana had a lot of information for us on a lot of really interesting things such as dinosaurs, stingray, fossils, snakes and so many more! We even got to touch a shedded snake skin.

We have a short week this week so we will be trying to get a lot of learning in!

I hope you all stay warm and dry!

Week 6

Welcome to Week 6.....
6 seems to be a number that is catching on, with only 6 Room 3 pupils at school so far this week!

We have been getting stuck into our garden these last 2 days. We have some amazing tomato plants growing, as well as some awesome strawberry plants. We have been planting some new seeds in preparation for the cooler months.

On Monday we spent time in maths being data detectives and working out what we could bake at school using the ingredients around us. With surveys and graphs we worked out we wanted to bake something sweet using apples, so "apple shortcake" it was. We spent today in the staffroom creating our delicious masterpiece! It tasted amazing.

We are also investigating how people see our kura. Today we visited our front gate to see what our visitors to kura see when they arrive. We drew pictures of our kura sign and are thinking about all the things we would like visitors to think when they first arrive, things like how cool our kids must be!

We hope you are all having a lovely week, and we shall be back next week!
