Week 6

Another busy week!

The count down is on for pet day- happening in week 10 (Tuesday the 23rd), as well as counting down to Performing arts (also in Week 10)! We started rehearsing this week and Room 3 were super stars! Some of our class have very important roles (sea creatures), as well as lines that need to be learnt!

We spent a lot of time focussing on our fractions this week, which resulted in us making pizzas, to practice splitting shapes into halves and quarters. All of Room 3 need to be able to read 1/2 and 1/4, which they are all very good at!

Tuhi's tasty pizza!

On Friday we celebrated daffodil day! Everyone in Room 3 dressed up which was fantastic to see! We had some very funky costumes including a bumble bee and a princess! Miss Violet and Shayne both won prizes for their awesome costumes. Our whole class celebrated by making daffodil day cookies.... perhaps some of them made it home for sampling??

The term is whizzing by. This next week we have Miss Reeves coming out to help us with our maths learning. We have our planting day down at the Whangawehi Bridge on Thursday- we would love your help if you have spare time! Hope you all have a lovely week 7!

Waitama's Blog Post

22/8/2014

Today we made snakes because we are learning about patterns. It is a pattern because it repeats.

Waitama has been working hard to identify patterns and then copy them
to make the pattern longer. Here he is with his pattern snake!

Room 3 Update

We have had another busy week!

Wednesday, I had to head to Gisborne with Miss Kereru for a course, and we missed out on the Duffy Theatre. The kids said it was an amazing day!

We have begun to focus on "digraphs" this last week. A digraph is a pair of letters that creates a new sound, such as "ch" and "ph". The kids have been making coins with our "digraph" words on them flowing from our "digraph" treasure chests.

Kapai te Kiwi has also been on two weekend stays now! Waitama and Jhalena both had a lot of fun having Kapai to stay for the weekend, and Kapai informed me he also enjoyed his time!

Azure's Blog Post

I have been doing writing about Rongomaiwahine. She has a feather in her hair. It is her crown. She has long brown hair. She is really pretty.

Room 3 Bloggers!

Kia Ora! Welcome to Room 3's class blog!

We aim to use this blog to keep our whanau up to date with what we are up to in class week to week. Room 3 students will be contributing to this blog so that they have the chance to share their experiences, as well as practise their typing skills!

It has been a very busy first few weeks of Term 3!

Room 3 has been getting stuck into new routines, and a bunch of new learning. Over the past few weeks we have been learning about Fractions, Patterns, Maori myths and legends, and writing for an audience.

In Room 3 this term we are "Persevering Pirates!". We aim to persevere with all that we are learning, and hope that we will be on the island by the end of the day- which means we get our treasure!

We also have a new class member in the form of a puppet. His name is "Kapai". Room 3 all get a turn at having him for a weekend during this term, and through term 4 as well. We then write in Kapai's book about our weekend with him, and all the fun we had!

Stay tuned to see what we get up to!
