Pancakes and Daffodil Day

Last week we had a whole lot of fun.

We are learning about fractions at the moment, and how to make halves and quarters evenly out of a shape.

We decided that the best way to practise making fractions would be to make pancakes. Before we started making the pancakes we practiced on our paper.  We practiced folding our paper so that the edges matched. Once we had done that we knew that our fractions were even- which is a very important word when learning about fractions.

Once we had mastered creating our fractions on our paper circles we started making the pancakes. We worked very hard on "doubling" our recipe so that there would be enough pancakes for us all. Then we took turns to measure our ingredients.

Then it was time to cook them!

After cutting our pancakes into quarters we decided what we would like on our quarters. Some people had banana on 1 quarter and maple syrup on the rest. Some people had half maple syrup and half banana and some people had banana AND maple syrup on their "whole" pancake!

After our exciting day of pancakes we had Friday, which was of course daffodil day! We were all dressed up beautifully! And our little school managed to raise $91 for the cancer society!
It was a very colourful day dedicated to a very awesome society!

We hope you all have a good week,

Miss D'Ath and Room 3.
