Pretty Awesome Readers and Writers!

We have some pretty awesome readers and writers in Room 3.

Tarquinn-Zaid, Jack and Hikurangi were working on what makes a sentence today. Jack knew a sentence needed words, Hiku knew sentences needed a full stop at the end, and Tarquinn-Zaid knew that some sentences had question marks instead of full stops! We all worked out that all our sentences in our reading books had capital letters at the beginning!  So now we know a sentence must begin with a capital letter!

We then read a story together and came up with our own sentences. Then we cut up the sentence and worked out if we can put them back together.

We're getting very speedy at putting our sentences back together!

In Room 3 we've also been using our Spell Writes when editing. Before we grab our Spell Writes though we make sure we have written down all the sounds we can hear.
Jhalena has been working hard at listening to all the sounds in her new words and today she spelt 5 new words all by herself! Very clever indeed!

We are also very excited to have some new literacy games to play with! And we have to say a very big THANKYOU to Te Rangatahi for purchasing them for us!

We are a very lucky class!

We hope you all enjoy week 10 and have safe and fun holidays!
